Known issues

  • 2022-07-17: App may crash on selecting "start over" or "select all/new/none" buttons. A temporary fix is on the way.
  • 2022-07-17: Unknown issue causing finding items to fail (2). Investigating.

Privacy statement

Media import is a utility app - it is not intended for any user identifiable information to be collected and transmitted to the developer.

Data and permissions

  • Media, access to removable devices on your computer

    • This app accesses the media on the device that you connected and selected for import.
    • All media is processed locally on your device. No personal media is transmitted to and stored by the developer.
  • Windows and Microsoft Store services

    • Non-personally identifiable user data may be automatically sent by your computer to Microsoft's servers in the following situations:
      • When you install this app from the Microsoft Store
      • When this app faces an error (app analytics data)
      • When this app crashes (error reporting data)
    • The data may include:
      • your country
      • your device information - operating version, brief specifications, app version number
      • name of error with no other personal information
      • date and time of app crash
      • (rarely) app crash information generated by your computer
    • The developer uses these data to monitor the performance of this app, understand which parts of the app that users are facing problems with, and fix bugs in this app.
    • This data is not used to identify you. This data is not disclosed for any other purpose.
    • You may be able to control how much of these data is sent in Windows settings.
      • Go to Windows settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & feedback. Choose from varying levels of diagnostic data. You can also understand how your data is processed by Microsoft there.
  • Internet access (new in v1.1 and above)

    • v1.1 onwards requires Internet access for Visual Studio App Center - a Microsoft tool used to monitor app crashes.
    • Non-personally identifiable user data may be automatically sent to Microsoft's servers when this app crashes.
    • The data may include:
      • what caused the crash, and other app crash information generated by your computer
      • your device information - operating version, brief specifications, app version number
      • your country
    • The developer uses this data to understand what causes the app to crash, and fix bugs that causes such crashes.
    • This data is not used to identify you. This data is not disclosed for any other purpose.
    • You can turn off crash reporting to Visual Studio App Center in app settings, and revert to the form of crash reporting mentioned in the above section.
      • App settings > Other settings > Automatic crash reporting > Change to "Send basic information"
  • Optional third party services

    • You may be transmitting personal information by using the optional features that this app connects to:
      • Microsoft Store - leaving reviews
      • Feedback Hub (Microsoft) - providing feedback
      • Google for Google Forms

  • Not supported - your computer does not meet the prerequisites to run this app; uninstall this app from your computer
  • Error finding items (1) - this is likely due to a problem on your connected device or computer
  • Error finding items (2) - this may be due to an unknown bug in the app; please contact us
  • Error finding devices (AP or APc) - this is likely due to a problem with your connected device and the AutoPlay function; if error persists, you should disconnect this app from AutoPlay in your Windows settings
