The court battle was ruined as much history was unearthed and disclosed in court.

Adelson, accustomed to dominating billions of dollar empires around the world, is now in a controversial seat and answers uncomfortable questions.

Jacobs is accused of using that information as leverage at a later stage to order sensitive information about Chinese officials with ostensible intentions to intimidate Chinese officials into granting favors to Las Vegas Sands Macau operations. Adelson and his legal team have flatly denied all such allegations and described Jacobs as a blackmailer and a low performer.

Adelson was caught off guard Tuesday when the prosecutor asked if he was aware of a plot to decapitate one of his employees. In the lawsuit, Adelson was accused of doing business with Cheng Qitai, a Hong Kong businessman who operates junkets in Macau. Cheng Qitai was identified as a key member of the gang by the U.S. Senate in 1992, and the Hong Kong Court of Appeals nominated him in 2011 as the head of an organized crime syndicate that ordered the death of a sans macao casino dealer (Cheng Qitai was never charged, but a subordinate was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder).

Responding to the question, Adelson said, "Your Honor, Mr. Pisanelli is making the wrong statement that we are dealing with cavity ties. We are not dealing with cavity ties, so that question is completely inappropriate. Of course I would be interested if someone tried to decapitate my employees. But he wasn't. And we weren't dealing with him. It makes their story that 'only Adelson is involved in cheating, not Jacobs.'

The judge told Adelson that the question ahead of him was whether he would be aware of death threats against employees as chairman of Las Vegas Sands and Sands China.

In the complaint, Jacobs claimed that the Macau shooting was organized in Las Vegas. Adelson previously testified that he did not know his exact location when he made a list of reasons to dismiss Jacobs with No. 2. This made it difficult for judges to judge jurisdiction issues.
