Different Factors To Consider While Choosing Bedroom Furniture

Most of us do not keep changing our bedroom furniture; and even when we do redecorate, the bedroom is often relegated to the last place on the list of priorities. It makes sense to get it right the first time—and here are some things you must keep in mind when doing up your bedroom!

Bedroom Space
Take a look at the space available. Which is the best position for the wardrobe? A good-sized wardrobe should be at least six feet in length. How much space does that leave for the bed? Plan the positions of the bed, storage units, dressing unit and a work desk if you need one. Do you need a king or queen-sized bed, or will a single cot be enough? If you have a large bedroom, you can even accommodate a small seating area. Bunk beds occupy less space and are a good option for children’s bedrooms. The right sizes of furniture can make your room look good without being too cluttered.

Design Style
What is the style of interior decor that you prefer? Clean and minimalistic, warm and rustic, or classic and traditional? The furniture and furnishings you pick should reflect this style. If you have any existing pieces that you would like to retain for sentimental reasons, then you should choose other pieces that do not look at odds with them. Try to work around a single unified theme, as the bedroom décor should be peaceful and not disturbing.

Bed Styles
Once you have chosen the style you like, then you can start looking at options for the furniture. A minimalistic theme would look good with a low cost, or one that doesn’t have an overpowering headboard. You may have fallen in love with that lovely traditional four-poster bed that is on display in the furniture shop, but do remember that if your bedroom is on the smaller side and has a low ceiling it will look very disproportionate! If you would like to have some additional storage in your room, then a bed that has to pull out drawers. More bedroom furniture at B&Q near me

Nightstands
Nightstands are an extension of your bed and are the next most important piece of furniture in your bedroom. Would you like a simple nightstand for just your alarm clock and a bedside lamp, or would you like to have a couple of storage drawers below as well? If space permits, plan to have a nightstand on each side of the bed. Most readymade cots come with matching nightstands and you could check if they can be customised to suit your needs.

Bedroom Wardrobes
We have already talked about wardrobe designs in detail here, so we’ll just give you some basic pointers for now! When choosing your wardrobe design, first think about whether you want to have fitted storage units or standalone storage will be sufficient for your needs. A chest of drawers looks good as part of a dresser unit with a mirror above it. A stand-alone armoire is also a convenient option if you do not have the space to have a fitted wardrobe.

If you are getting a fitted wardrobe, decide whether it should have sliding shutters (much preferred if there is a paucity of space) or hinged shutters that open outwards.

Also, do you want to have a loft to keep suitcases and extra boxes? The style of your shutters should match the underlying theme of your bedroom interior; whether it is modern or classic. Talk to your designer about how much hanging space you need, and how many drawers your storage units should be able to accommodate. If you have a small-sized room then you could use mirrors on the wardrobe shutters to visually double the space available.

Bedroom Colour Combination
The colours you choose for your furniture, walls and furnishings will create the atmosphere you want in your bedroom. Blues, whites and greys are cool and serene and can give you a restful night. On the other hand, reds and yellows are vibrant and not conducive to a peaceful atmosphere. Blacks and purple colours can be quite disturbing and are better avoided in the bedroom. Pick colours that complement each other and create a sense of harmony.
